Information

What to bring

It is essential that you bring your certification card with you and if possible your dive log book. We consider a 5mm or wetsuit or thicker usually suitable for the conditions here. We suggest you also bring sunscreen, sunglasses, a warm jacket or sweater, a towel and your camera.

Weather

Weather conditions may force us to postpone or cancel your trip. We will only take our boat out when the conditions are safe and we feel your dive will be enjoyable. The Skipper’s decision is final.

Snorkelling

Please advise us if you wish to snorkel. The water at the Poor Knights Islands is deep and landing on the Islands is prohibited so it is essential that you are confident in the water. If we have any doubts regarding your competency to snorkel we will not allow it as it can compromise the safety of other passengers and crew if you get into difficulty. We do not carry any snorkelling equipment on the boat so you will need to bring your own or arrange hire with us in advance; we would also suggest you bring/hire a wetsuit.

Your safety

For your safety and ours we do not allow passengers under 14, pets or alcohol on our boat, unless by prior arrangement. Accompanied junior divers or snorkellers are welcome.

On a typical day we would meet at the Marina between 8 and 8.30, where you can have hot drinks on board before we depart.

Depending on weather conditions you would expect the trip to the Poor Knights Islands to take just over half an hour.

After the safety briefing from our Skipper, he will explain how the day will run and the first dive destination can be decided on.

During the surface interval of an hour and a half, you will have time to snorkel or kayak, or relax and enjoy your lunch while we take a sightseeing trip around the Islands.

Our Skipper will tell you a bit about the Poor Knights and their history and we can discuss where the afternoon's diving location will be.

After the second dive we will head back and arrive at Tutukaka Marina at about 4pm.
